Objective:

The Social Mobilizer will play a crucial role in engaging and mobilizing the local community, facilitating community participation, and promoting the effective implementation of humanitarian programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Community Engagement:
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, leaders, and local authorities.
    • Conduct regular meetings and consultations with the community to understand their needs and concerns.
  2. Needs Assessment:
    • Conduct thorough community needs assessments to identify priority areas for intervention.
    • Document and report community needs, vulnerabilities, and available resources.
  3. Program Promotion:
    • Promote awareness of available humanitarian services and programs within the community.
    • Explain program objectives, eligibility criteria, and benefits to community members.
  4. Community Capacity Building:
    • Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops, and awareness campaigns on topics relevant to the community's needs, such as health, hygiene, and livelihoods.
    • Promote knowledge sharing and community-led initiatives.
  5. Feedback Mechanism:
    • Establish and maintain a feedback mechanism to gather community opinions, suggestions, and complaints regarding program implementation.
    • Ensure timely resolution of complaints and concerns.
  6. Program Implementation Support:
    • Collaborate with program teams to ensure that program activities are effectively communicated to and understood by the community.
    • Assist in organizing and mobilizing the community for program activities.
  7. Monitoring and Reporting:
    • Regularly monitor community participation and feedback to assess the impact of programs on the community.
    • Compile and submit accurate and timely reports to the supervisor.
  8. Coordination and Collaboration:
    • Work closely with other departments within the organization to ensure that community perspectives are integrated into program planning and implementation.
    • Collaborate with local partners, NGOs, and government agencies to enhance the impact of humanitarian interventions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work, Community Development, Sociology, etc.) or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience in community mobilization and engagement, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engaging with diverse community members.
  • Knowledge of and respect for local customs, traditions, and community dynamics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Proficiency in relevant computer software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Fluency in dari, pashto and English (written and spoken).
  • Commitment to the principles of neutrality, impartiality, and humanitarian ethics.
